Yellow Jackets Sting Anchorwomen at Puerto Rico Clasico

San Juan, P.R.--Senior guard Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) posted 22 points, grabbed five boards and dished out five assists as Rhode Island College fell vs. Randolph-Macon College, 58-57, at the Puerto Rico Clasico on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore guard Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) scored 10 points in the first quarter as the Anchorwomen and Yellow Jackets were even, 17-17 after the first 10 minutes.
 
• The teams would battle out the rest of the half, with RIC leading by two at the break, 34-32.
 
• Three and a half minutes would go by in the third quarter before any scoring started again as both teams combined for just 13 points in the third stanza.
 
• Foul trouble would plague the Anchorwomen, which sent the Yellow Jackets to the line as RIC's comeback attempt in the fourth quarter would fall just short.
 
• Freshman guard Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) scored a career-high nine points off the bench.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue play at the Puerto Rico Clasico vs. Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, Dec. 19 (5 p.m.).
