Providence, R.I.—Senior Matthew Kelly (Katonah, N.Y.) took home the crown at 197 lbs. as Rhode Island College placed first (16 teams) at the 2024 All-American Veterans Classic, held at RIC's Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
Rhode Island College has 11 wrestlers place in the top four and finished first among a field of 16 teams with a team score of 173.0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kelly went 3-0 with a technical fall, pin and a decision to win at 197 lbs.

• Senior Kwesi Amoa (Central Islip, N.Y.) finished second at 133 lbs. He went 3-0 with two technical fall wins before an injury cut short his tournament.
 
• Senior Christopher McCarthy (Middletown, N.J.) finished second at 165 lbs. He went 3-1 with a trio of technical fall wins.
 
• Senior Michael Alfonso (Garfield, N.J.) finished second at 285 lbs. He went 2-1 with a pin on the day.
 
• Senior Aidan Faria (Cumberland, R.I.) finished second at 174 lbs. He went 3-1 with a pin and two technical fall wins.
 
• Sophomore Anthony Fernandez (Nashua, N.H.) finished third at 197 lbs. He went 3-1 with three pins.
 
• Senior Hunter Lundberg (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) finished third at 141 lbs. He went 4-1 with a technical fall, pin and a pair of decisions.
 
• Junior Robert Stone (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished fourth at 125 lbs. He went 2-2 with a technical fall and a pin.
 
• Junior Wil Hunt (Providence, R.I.) finished fourth at 165 lbs. He went 3-2 with two technical fall wins.
 
• Junior Dillon Carter (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished fourth at 157 lbs. He went 4-2 with three pins and a technical fall win.
 
• Senior Michael Pestana (North Bergen, N.J.) finished fourth at 149 lbs. He went 3-2 with two pins and a major decision.
