Owls Down Anchorwomen, 3-1

Keene, N.H.--Sophomore outside hitter Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs as Rhode Island College lost, 3-1, vs. Keene State in Little East action played at Spaulding Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a 25-17 first-stanza win by the Owls, RIC applied pressure and won the second set, 25-23. 
 
• However, the Anchorwomen's nine errors in the third set cost them another frame as the hosts won, 25-19, and went up, 2-1.
 
• The Owls would go on to earn the third set victory, 25-21, and clinch a spot in the upcoming LEC playoffs.
 
• Sophomore setter Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) also tallied a double-double on the day with 31 assists and 10 digs for the club.
 
• Sophomore defensive specialist Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, Mass.) and classmate defensive specialist Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) combined for 33 digs, with 20 and 13, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face New England College in its second match of the day at Keene State (2 p.m.).
