Providence, R.I.--Junior 285 lbs. Edison Guarcas (Providence, R.I.) went 2-0 and junior 149 lbs. Michael Pestana (North Bergen, N.J.) went 3-1 as Rhode Island College went 2-2 at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Headlock for Hunger Dual Championship, hosted by Johnson and Wales on Sunday afternoon.
 
THE HIGHLIGHTS:
• The No. 11-seeded Anchormen lost the opening contest, 32-15, to No. 6-seeded Roger Williams. Junior 125 lbs. Fred Luchs (Belford, N.J.) won by technical fall and Guarcas pinned his opponent.
 
• RIC fell, 24-20, to No. 14-seeded New England College in its next action. Junior 184 lbs. Matthew Kelly (Katonah, N.Y.) and freshman 197 lbs. Anthony Fernandez (Nashua, N.H.) each had technical fall wins.
 
• The Anchormen then downed No. 15-seeded Plymouth State, 46-7. RIC had six pins in the match, highlighted by sophomore 125 lbs. Robert Stone's (Deer Park, N.Y.) victory in just 15 seconds.
 
• RIC wrapped up the day with a 34-18 win over No. 12-seeded Norwich.  Freshman 141 lbs. Owen Roche (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore 157 lbs. Dillon Carter (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) each had pins in the match.
 
• Kelly went 2-1 with a pair of tech. fall wins on the day.
