Providence, R.I.--Rhode Island College President Dr. Jack Warner, along with alumni, administrators and student-athletes, officially dedicated the new turf field at Alumni Stadium with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 1 as part of a day "Celebrating Soccer".

RIC played host to a girls' high school matchup featuring Pilgrim and North Kingstown High School (10 .a.m.), which was followed by a R.I. boys' game between Chariho and South Kingstown (1 p.m.).

The field was dedicated at 3:45 p.m. just prior to the RIC men's soccer team's 2023 season-opener vs. Maine-Farmington (4 p.m.). The women's team closed out the day's festivities with a matchup of their own vs. Maine-Farmington (7 p.m.).
