2022-23 Rhode Island College Women's Swimming Season Summary

Providence, R.I.--Head Coach Barry Fontane's team finished the season with a 1-8 record.
 
The Anchorwomen placed seventh (10 teams) at the Little East Championship with a team score of 246.0 on Feb. 17-19.
 
Junior Ciara Ahern (Bristol, R.I.) placed 10th in the 200-yard relay (2;15.02) and 21st in the 50-yard backstroke preliminaries (43.63), 29th in the 50-yard freestyle (35.11) preliminaries and 32nd in the 100-yard freestyle preliminaries (1:22.63) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She placed fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:42.84), seventh in both the 50-yard backstroke (44.77) and in the 500-yard freestyle (8:21.69) and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:35.22) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Ahern placed fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:22.28) and the 200-yard breaststroke (3:23.34) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She placed fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (47.35), fifth in both the 50-yard freestyle (39.16) and the 100-yard IM (1:47.69) and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:30.72) at Western New England on Jan. 8. Ahern finished 17th in the 100-yard IM (1:40.36), 18th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:37.14) and 25th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:28.21) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (5:34.81), sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:24.57) and eighth in the 200-yard backstroke (3:28.75) at Clark on Nov. 19. Ahern placed 22nd in the 100-yard freestyle (1:27.00), 12th in the 50-yard backstroke (41.74), 14th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:37.57), 19th in the 100-yard IM (1:40.21) and 30th in the 50-yard freestyle (41.92) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5. She placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:24.85) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (39.84), 100-yard freestyle (1:33.20) and the 200-yard freestyle (3:17.53) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
 
Junior Olivia DeLuca (Providence, R.I.) placed seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (9:05.23), eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.04), 200-yard butterfly (2:36.84), 400-yard freestyle relay (4:01.54) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:35.22), ninth in the 400-yard IM (5:18.43) and 11th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.08) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.01),  fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.03) and sixth in both the 50-yard butterfly (32.77) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.61) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. DeLuca finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:09.51), third in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.72) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:59.92) and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:34.23) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She finished first in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.77) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.15) and second in both the 50-yard breaststroke (37.66) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.86) at Western New England on Jan. 8. DeLuca finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:50.97), third in the 400-yard IM (5:33.80), sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.71) and seventh in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.60) and 500-yard freestyle (6:12.84) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She placed first in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:08.58) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:13.52), second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:47.34) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:17.72) at Clark on Nov. 19. DeLuca placed second in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.96) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:15.43) and third in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.92) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:19.67) in a double-dual against Gordon and Western New England on Nov. 12. She placed fourth in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.67) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.78), sixth in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.16) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:00.67) and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.44) and 200-yard medley relay (2:18.50) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5. DeLuca placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.78), second in the 50-yard butterfly (31.09) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:22.08) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
 
Junior Rebecca Fyrer (Cranston, R.I.) finished seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (9:05.23), eighth in both the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:01.54) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:35.22), 10th in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:15.02) and the 400-yard IM (5:43.83) and 15th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:18.76) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She finished fourth in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:42.84) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:36.33), fifth in the 50-yard backstroke (35.86) and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (30.81) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Fyrer finished fourth in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:52.36) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:22.28), fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:50.67) and seventh in the 200-yard IM (2:50.28) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She finished first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.77), second in both the 100-yard IM (1:23.30) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:57.37) and third in the 50-yard butterfly (38.42) at Western New England on Jan. 8. Fyrer finished sixth in both the 200-yard IM (2:48.09) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.71), seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.60) and 10th in the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:45.47) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She finished first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:08.58), fourth in the 400-yard IM (6:03.38), fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:43.16) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.80) at Clark on Nov. 19. Fyrer finished second in the 50-yard backstroke (35.55), third in the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.92), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:19.91) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (31.05) in a double-dual against Gordon and Western New England on Nov. 12. She placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:42.49), sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:00.67), seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.50), eighth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.82), 11th in the 50-yard breaststroke (41.29), 13th in the 100-yard IM (1:21.38) and 16th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.68) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5. Fyrer placed second in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:24.85) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:30.44) and third in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.46) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:43.59) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
 
Junior Meghan Laflamme (Smithfield, R.I.) placed seventh in both the 50-yard backstroke (30.58) and the 800-yard freestyle relay (9:05.23), eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.04)  200-yard freestyle (2:09.45), 400-yard freestyle relay (4:01.54) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:35.22), 10th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:15.02) and 11th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.48) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.01), third in both the 50-yard freestyle (28.04) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.48) and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.20) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Laflamme finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (28.17), 100-yard freestyle (1:01.06) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:09.51) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:55.43) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She finished first in both the 50-yard backstroke (34.15) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.77) and second in both the 50-yard freestyle (27.72) and in the 50-yard butterfly (32.71) at Western New England on Jan. 8. Laflamme finished fifth in both the 50-yard freestyle (27.51) and 200-yard backstroke (2:36.70), sixth in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.00) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.71) and seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.60) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She placed first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:08.58), second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.67), third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.69) and fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:43.26) at Clark on Nov. 19. Laflamme placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.89), fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.62), sixth in both the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:00.67) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:17.17), seventh in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.23) and the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.50) and 10th in the 50-yard butterfly (33.66) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5. She placed second in the 50-yard backstroke (31.40), 50-yard freestyle (28.17) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.92) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
 
Junior Marta Matzko (Rumford, R.I.) placed eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.04), ninth in the 200-yard IM (2:47.74), 10th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:15.02) and 12th in the 400-yard IM (6:03.16) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.01), fourth in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:42.84) and the 1,000 yard freestyle (14:45.78) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.57) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Matzko finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:09.51), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:22.28), sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:44.20) and seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:34.97) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She finished first in the 200-yard medley relay (2:13.77), third in both the 50-yard breaststroke (45.05) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:43.70) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:11.95) at Western New England on Jan. 8. Matzko finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.71), seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (2:18.60), 11th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:56.14), 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.09) and 18th in the 50-yard freestyle (30.98) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (5:34.81), fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:33.51), fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (33.47) and seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (3:06.70) at Clark on Nov. 19. Matzko finished third in the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.92), fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:19.91), fifth in the 50-yard backstroke (40.06) and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (31.09) in a double-dual against Gordon and Western New England on Nov. 12. She placed 12th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:30.37), 13th in the 50-yard breaststroke (43.36) and 23rd in the 50-yard freestyle (34.00) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5.
 
Junior Anna Vygoder (Lincoln, R.I.) earned Second Team All-Little East honors with second place finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke (32.11), 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.24) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.86), while also placing seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (9:05.23) and eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.04), 400-yard freestyle relay (4:01.54) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:35.22) at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. Her 50 and 200-yard breaststroke times established new program records. She placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.63), second in both the 50-yard breaststroke (34.81) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.01) and fourth in the 100-yard IM (1:11.63) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Vygoder placed second in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:09.51) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:45.30), third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.37) and fifth in the 200-yard IM (2:34.55) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She finished first in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:08.58) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:49.79), third in the 400-yard IM (5:42.33) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.98) at Clark on Nov. 19. Vygoder finished first in both the 50-yard breaststroke (34.21) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.10) and third in both the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.92) and the 200-yard IM (2:34.38) in a double-dual against Gordon and Western New England on Nov. 12. She placed first in the 50-yard breaststroke (33.90) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.31) and second in the 100-yard IM (1:09.98) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
 
Freshman Olivia Landry (Lincoln, R.I.) finished 10th in the 200-yard relay (2;15.02), 11th in the 200-yard butterfly (3:47.28), 13th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:41.48) and 30th in the 50-yard freestyle (40.50) preliminaries at the Little East Championship on Feb. 17-19. She placed fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:42.84), sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:46.66), eighth in the 50-yard butterfly (47.78) and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:28.70) at a double dual meet hosted by Keene State on Jan. 28. Landry placed fourth in both the 200-yard butterfly (4:11.07) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:22.28) and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (42.24) against Eastern Connecticut and Western Connecticut on Jan. 16. She placed fifth in the 50-yard butterfly (49.31) and sixth in both the 50-yard freestyle (41.28) and in the 100-yard IM (1:48.42) at Western New England on Jan. 8. Landry placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (1:48.94), 19th in the 50-yard butterfly (46.78) and 26th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:30.64) at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Dec. 3. She placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (5:34.81) and sixth in both the 50-yard freestyle (43.29) and in the 200-yard butterfly (4:14.34) at Clark on Nov. 19. Landry placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:19.91), fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:53.34), sixth in the 50-yard butterfly (49.40) and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:34.37) in a double-dual against Gordon and Western New England on Nov. 12. She  placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.44), 15th in both the 50-yard backstroke (52.15) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:53.89), 17th in the 50-yard butterfly (50.69), 20th in the 100-yard IM (1:49.69) and 29th in the 50-yard freestyle (40.81) at the Louise Goodrum Invitational on Nov. 5. Landry placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:24.85) and fourth in both the 50-yard backstroke (53.43) and the 50-yard butterfly (47.93) vs. Westfield State on Oct. 30.
