Cambridge, Mass.--Freshman Jaden Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) placed third in the high jump as the Rhode Island College men's outdoor track and field team competed at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• This was an individual meet with no team scoring. The meet was comprised of Division I, II and III programs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saunders placed third in the high jump (1.81m) and fifth in the long jump (6.42m).
 
• Freshman Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished third in the hammer (50.78m).
 
• Freshman Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) placed fourth in the hammer (47.99m).
 
• Senior Edward Garofalo (Newport, R.I.) placed fifth in the triple jump (13.33m).
 
• Sophomore Benjamin Lockwood (Saunderstown, R.I.) finished fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:58.03) and 38^th in the 800m (2:10.71).
 
• Junior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) placed eighth in the hammer (41.77m).
 
• Freshman Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished 10^th in the long jump (5.56m) and 29^th in the 200m (24.72).
 
• Freshman Juan Reyes (Providence, R.I.) placed 14^th in the 400m hurdles (1:06.51).
 
• Sophomore Matthew Taylor (Smithfield, R.I.) finished 15^th in the 400m hurdles (1:07.14).
 
• Senior Austin Michael (Swansea, Mass.) placed 26^th in the 800m (2:03.39).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2023 Little East Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, April 29 (10 a.m.).
