Steven Doss (West Warwick, R.I.). broke the program and meet record with a first place finish in the 200m as the Rhode Island College men's outdoor track and field team finished 10
th at Bryant Black and Gold Invitational on Friday and Sunday, March 31 & April 2.
THE BASICS
• RIC placed 10
th (17 teams) with a team score of 42.0. Bryant won the meet with a team score of 97.0.
• The meet was composed of mostly Division I and II institutions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Doss finished first in the 200m (21.42) and fifth in the 4x100m relay (42.92). His time in the 200m broke the program and meet records. The time ranks No. 9 in the nation and first in New England and the Little East. The 4x100m time is also a new RIC record and ranks No. 7 in New England and first in the LEC.
• Senior
Edward Garofalo (Newport, R.I.) placed first in the triple jump (12.91m) and eighth in the long jump (6.07m).
• Freshman
Jaden Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) finished second in the triple jump (12.86m), fifth in the long jump (6.23m) and 11
th in the high jump (1.80m).
• Sophomore
Mahari Nayte (Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x100m relay (42.92).
• Freshman
Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished fifth in the 4x100m relay (42.92), 18
th in the long jump (5.50m) and 37
th in the 100m (11.85).
