Smithfield, R.I.—Freshman Ryan Hazard (Wakefield, R.I.) finished eighth in the shot as the Rhode Island College men's track & field team opened the outdoor portion of their schedule in the first day of action at Bryant's Black and Gold Invitational on Friday afternoon.

• Hazard finished eighth in the shot (14.09m) and 18^th in the hammer (41.51m).
 
• Freshman Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) placed eighth in the hammer (49.10m).
 
• Freshman Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed ninth in the hammer (48.61m).
 
• Junior Michelson Salomon (Providence, R.I.) placed 10^th in the hammer (48.29m).
 
• Junior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) placed 17^th in the hammer (41.96m).
 
• Senior Andre Solomon-Messier (North Providence, R.I.) placed 16^th in the 10,000m (33:40.47).
