Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) notched her third win of the season as the Rhode Island College softball team defeated Simmons, 9-1 (5 innings), in the second game of a doubleheader played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen scored in the first frame after a double by junior first baseman
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) plated junior center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.).
• Freshman second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning to extend the RIC lead to 2-0 after the second inning.
• SU freshman third baseman
Leah Connor (Broomfield, Colo.) got the Sharks on the board with an RBI double to make the game, 2-1, in the third.
• RIC was able to score in bunches in the final two innings plating seven runs, capped by a walk-off two-run homer by Simmons, to end the contest due to the eight-run rule.
• Simmons went 2-for-3 with a triple, a long ball and four RBI.
• Katz tripled home three runs in the fifth inning.
• Kidd got the win (3-2), striking out eight in the process.
