Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) picked up two hits as Rhode Island College dropped the second game of a doubleheader vs. Salve Regina, 11-5, at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Salve Regina scored a run in the top of the first inning off of a few RIC miscues, and RIC did the same in the bottom of the frame, to lead, 2-1, after one.
• The Seahawks proceeded to score nine runs over the next four innings, ending the top of the fifth up by eight, 10-2, and looking to end the game early.
• RIC scored off of a Seahawks error to keep the game alive in the fifth then added two more runs in the sixth to pull within five, 10-5.
• The visitors tacked on one more run in the seventh to salvage a split on the day. The Anchorwomen took game one, 10-2, in six innings.
• RIC freshman second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a triple.
• It was a sloppy game as each team committed five errors and two wild pitches.
