Boston, Mass.--Junior Michelson Salomon (Providence, R.I.) finished third in the weight throw as the Rhode Island College men's indoor track and field team competed at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual event with no team scoring.
 
• The event consisted of mostly NCAA Division I institutions.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Salomon finished third in the weight throw (18.55m). His throw moved him to No. 10 in the nation and No. 2 in New England in that event.
 
• Junior Steven Doss (West Warwick, R.I.) finished third in the 60m (7.00) and 18^th in the 400m (48.10). Doss broke the program record in the 400m and currently ranks No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in New England in that event. His time in the 60m ranks No. 1 in the Little East.
 
• Freshman Jaden Saunders (Smithfield, R.I.) placed 10^th in the high jump (1.94m) and 14^th in the triple jump (12.98m). Saunders' effort in the high jump moves him up to No. 9 in New England and No. 2 in the Little East.
 
• Freshman Ryan Hazard (Wakefield, R.I.) placed 12^th in the shot (14.83m).
 
• Freshman Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed 25^th in the weight throw (15.09m).
 
• Freshman Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished 29^th in the weight throw (14.41m).
 
• Sophomore Mahari Nayte (Providence, R.I.) placed 84^th in the 800m (1:53.19).
 
• Freshman Juan Reyes (Providence, R.I.) finished 224^th in the 400m (53.86).
 
• Freshman Isiah Briggs (Providence, R.I.) finished 241^st in the 400m (55.04).
 
• Senior Austin Michael (Swansea, Mass.) finished 311^th in the 800m (2:02.64).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2023 Little East Championship, hosted by Plymouth State on Saturday, Feb. 18.
