Boston, Mass.--Junior Steven Doss (West Warwick, R.I.) broke the program record in the 400m as the Rhode Island College men's track and field team participated in the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE BASICS
• It was an individual event with no team scoring. The event was comprised of mostly Div. I competition.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Doss finished 14^th in the 400m (48.51). He currently ranks No. 8 in the nation and No. 1 in New England in that event.
 
• Junior Michelson Salomon (Providence, R.I.) finished third in the weight throw (16.54m).
 
• Senior Edward Garofalo (Newport, R.I.) placed eighth in the triple jump (13.56m).
 
• Freshman Shamus Culhane (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed 10^th in the weight throw (14.12m).
 
• Freshman Kordell O'Brien (Newport, R.I.) placed 10^th in the pole vault (3.50m).
 
• Freshman Brandon Mota (West Warwick, R.I.) finished 11^th in the weight throw (13.74m).
 
• Freshman Ryan Hazard (Wakefield, R.I.) placed 12^th in the weight throw (13.65m) and 13^th in the shot (14.00m).
 
• Junior Christopher McCarthy (Cranston, R.I.) placed 13^th in the weight throw (13.59m).
 
• Sophomore Mahari Nayte (Providence, R.I.) placed 16^th in the 400m (48.84) and 51^st in the 200m (22.83.). He currently ranks No. 12 in the nation and No. 2 in New England in the 400m.
 
• Freshman Dante DiGregorio (Smithfield, R.I.) finished 34^th in the 1,000m (2:44.04).
 
• Freshman Juan Reyes (Providence, R.I.) finished 98^th in the 400m (53.07) and 118^th in the 200m (25.13).
 
Senior Andre Solomon-Messier (North Providence, R.I.) placed 128^th in the 800m (2:11.97) and 150^th in the 3,000m (9:14.63).
 
• Senior Austin Michael (Swansea, Mass.) finished 213^th in the mile (4:38.78).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Open Championship, held at the New Balance Center in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 2-3.
