HOW IT HAPPENED
• BSU jumped out to a seven point, 15-8, lead over RIC in set one. RIC mounted a comeback attempt, but was foiled by the Bears who won the stanza, 25-22.

• Set two played very similarly to set one. Both teams went back and forth, and with the Bears up late, RIC went on a small run, but ultimately fell short, 25-22, by the identical score of the first frame.

• In the final set, the Anchorwomen went on the initiative, scoring six of the first seven points. Bridgewater would slowly creep up on RIC and eventually snatched back the lead, 11-10.

• The hosts pulled within a point, 24-23, but BSU freshman outside hitter
Kim Gowell (Durham, N.H.) knocked the game-winner to give the Bears the shutout win.

• RIC senior outside hitter
Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) registered a match-high 14 kills. Philbrick had three service aces and four kills of her own.

• BSU freshman right side hitter
Meaghan Coutu (Brookline, N.H.) led the Bears with 11 kills.

• Bears senior setter
Savannah Quintal (Assonet, Mass.) was crucial at the service line, dropping four aces to end both sets one and two for BSU. She added nine assists and four digs.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East action at UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Sept. 28 (6 p.m.).
