Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) tossed a no-hitter in game one of a doubleheader as the Rhode Island College softball team swept Roger Williams (4-0, 9-3) at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• The offense started in the bottom of the second inning, when junior catcher
Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) blasted a home run (1) into deep left-center field to give the hosts a, 1-0, advantage.

• In the bottom of the sixth, with the Anchorwomen up, 2-0, sophomore center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) and senior second baseman
Katrina Kazen (Warwick, R.I.) each drove in a run each to give the hosts their third and fourth runs.

• The star of the game was Kidd, who hurled her first career no-hitter. She struck out nine and allowed just two baserunners to earn her second win (2-3).

Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was tabbed with the loss (1-4).

GAME TWO
• RIC scored five runs over the first two innings, with sophomore first baseman
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) driving in four by herself.

• Roger Williams mustered up just three runs all game as RIC scored in all but two trips to the plate to secure the sweep.
