Boyce Leads Anchorwomen in Split With Clark

Providence, R.I.--Junior catcher Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) drove in a pair of runs for the Rhode Island College softball team as the Anchorwomen split a doubleheader vs. Clark at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Rhode Island College 5, 1 ; Clark 0, 9
Rhode Island College (2-2)
Clark (1-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
• RIC scored the game's first two runs on back-to-back RBI singles by senior designated player Katrina Kazen (Warwick, R.I.)  and freshman shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.).

• The Anchorwomen got another boost with three runs in the bottom of the third, with two of those coming on a Boyce double down the left field line.

• Freshman pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) earned her first collegiate win (1-0) thanks to a four-inning, scoreless effort. Sophomore pitcher Tatiana Burcy (Boston, Mass.) pitched three innings of relief, earning her first save of the season in the process.

• Clark junior pitcher Jessica Sardili (Farmington, Conn.) was saddled with the loss (0-1).

GAME TWO
• Clark flipped the script to start game two and was the first team to strike for runs, crossing home plate three times over the first three innings due to a few Anchorwomen miscues.

• While RIC scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to make the game, 3-1, the Cougars did damage and scored two in the fifth and four runs in the sixth inning, which was highlighted by a two-run single from junior outfielder Eliza Lindberg (East Chatham, N.Y.).

• With Clark up by eight runs in the sixth inning, a one-two-three inning from Clark senior pitcher Kaylee Gibson (Northfield, Mass.) ended the contest a stanza early.

• Burcy suffered the loss in game two (1-1).

• Gibson pitched all six innings and earned Clark's first win of the campaign (1-0).

BY THE NUMBERS
• Boyce went 2-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI and a double on the day.
