Springfield, Mass.--Sophomores Emma Tucker (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and Olivia Keyes (Bridgewater, Mass.) each established new program records as the Rhode Island College women's gymnastics team finished third (three teams) at a tri-meet hosted by Springfield on Sunday afternoon.
THE BASICS
RIC placed third (three teams) with a score of 185.125. It was a new season-high score for the Anchowomen. Southern Connecticut finished first (192.025), while Springfield placed second (186.800).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Vault: Keyes (9.475) and Tucker (9.425) were the top-ranking RIC gymnasts on vault.
RIC Team Score: 46.425
Bars: Keyes (9.500) and Tucker (8.800) again paced the Anchorwomen on bars scoring. Keyes' score was the highest of any Anchorwomen on bars all season.
RIC Team Score: 46.175
Beam: Tucker established a new program record on beam (9.750). Keyes had set the record earlier this season with a 9.725 score.
RIC Team Score: 44.025
Floor: Keyes established a new program record with her floor routine, scoring a 9.875. Keyes and junior Kelsey Gates (Orangeville, Pa.) each scored a 9.825 on floor in the first meet of the year, which established a new record until Gates broke it again with a 9.850 a week later. Gates had a score of 9.825 to finish second on the club today.
RIC Team Score: 48.600
All-Around: Keyes, Tucker and Gates were the only all-arounders, scoring 38.125, 37.675 and 36.000, respectively.
