Women's Gymnastics Posts Season-Best Team Score at Southern Connecticut

New Haven, Conn.-Sophomore Olivia Keyes (Bridgewater, Mass.) led RIC in four of five events as the Rhode Island College women's gymnastics team posted their highest team score of the season in a 189.5000-184.650 loss at Southern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Vault: SCSU Freshman Brooke Burkhart (Haymarket, VA) and sophomore Hannah Zebdi (Ashburn, VA) each had a 9.775 mark. Keyes had the best score for RIC with a 9.400, which was tied for sixth.

Bars: The Owls once again took the top two spots, this time a 9.775 tie between senior Hannah Stahlbrodt (Cicero, N.Y.) and junior Bianca Leon (Miami, Fla.). RIC junior Kelsey Gates (Orangeville, Penn.) scored a 9.100 for seventh overall.

Beam: The Anchorwomen claimed the top sports on beam, with Keyes scoring a 9.675 and sophomore Emma Tucker (Pompton Plains, N.J.) notching second place with a 9.650 score. Stahlbrodt came in third and had the best SCSU score with a 9.600.

Floor: Keyes and Gates again impressed with their floor routines, with Keyes scoring a 9.750 and claiming first place, while Gates shared second place with Southern senior Noely Macias (Fitchburg, Mass.), with a 9.650.

All-Around: RIC took the top four spots in the all-around, with Keyes (37.875), Gates (37.650) and Tucker (36.275) coming in first, second and third, respectively. Keyes established a new program record with her point total.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Brown's Rumble and Tumble Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 20.
