Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College sophomore Jaimi Vaillancourt (Tiverton, R.I.) won in straight sets at No. 5 singles as Rhode Island College rolled past Curry, 8-1, to improve to 7-0 on the season on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC opened up play by winning two doubles matches and earning a forfeit to go up by three, 3-0.
 
• Vaillancourt pitched a shutout (6-0, 6-0) at No. 5 singles.

• Freshmen Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) and Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) won, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Devine and junior Sarah Gonick (Kingston, Mass.) each recorded (6-0, 6-0) shutouts at No. 6 and 4 singles, respectively. Devine's win clinched the victory for the club.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East play at home vs. Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 2 (1 p.m.).
