Anchorwomen Best Emmanuel, 3-1

Providence, R.I.—Junior outside hitter Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) posted a double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Rhiannon Hodovanec (Feeding Hills, Mass.) registered 10 winners, as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team downed Emmanuel, 3-1, on Tuesday evening at The Murray Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen took the first set by eight, 25-18, only to see the Saints went set two, 25-21.
 
• The visitors led, 24-22, and had set point in the third frame, but RIC racked up four straight, paced by two Murphy kills, a sophomore middle hitter Angelly Polanco (Providence, R.I.) winner and an EC attack error, to win by a pair, 26-24, and jump into the driver's seat in the match.
 
• The Anchorwomen led wire-to-wire in the fourth set and won by five, 25-20, to earn their fourth win of the season.
 
• Sophomore setter Aubrey St. Onge (Tilton, N.H.) and freshman Sydney Green (West Warwick, R.I.) combined for 31 assists with 17 and 14, respectively. Junior libero Wynter Conlon (East Walpole, Mass.) racked up a match-high 26 digs.
 
• Emmanuel sophomore right side hitter Sasha Hyacinthe (Stoughton, Mass.) led the Saints with 10 kills. Junior outside hitter Kerry Shea (Tewksbury, Mass.) posted 16 digs. Sophomore setter Brigid Moriarty (Westfield, Mass.) led EC with 14 assists.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC hit .043 (44-37-163), while EC hit .006 (33-32-157).
 
• RIC led in kills (44-33), assists (36-29), aces (12-5) and digs (81-74). EC led in blocks (16-13).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East play at home vs. Castleton on Saturday, Sept. 25 (noon).
