Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College seniors 
Michael Shea (Greenville, R.I.) and 
Ethan Hoy (West Warwick, R.I.)won their respective doubles and singles matches as the Anchormen blanked Southern Maine, 9-0, in Little East men's tennis action played at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen will be the top seed in the upcoming 2021 Little East Men's Tennis Championship, which begins on Wednesday, May 5, and have the homecourt advantage throughout the tournament.
 
• RIC sophomore 
Michael Crawley (Manville, R.I.) and freshman 
Josh Brien (Johnston, R.I.) opened the afternoon with an 8-0 victory over the USM freshmen duo of 
Ethan Rudnicki (Levantine, ME) and 
Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, Quebec) at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Hoy and sophomore 
Max Blais (Smithfield, R.I.) picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles vs. USM junior 
Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, Quebec) and sophomore 
Gabriel Couture (Boucherville, Quebec).
 
• Shea and junior 
Alex Bourque (North Smithfield, R.I.) sent RIC into singles action up by three, 3-0, with an 8-2 win over USM senior 
Adam Papayoanou (Valencia, Ca.) and freshman 
Cole Oullette (Lewiston, ME) at No. 1 doubles.
 
• Crawley defeated Bartuccio-Pereira (6-0, 6-1) at No. 3 singles.
 
• Blais clinched the match with a win (6-3, 6-1) over Ouellette at No. 2 singles.
 
• Bourque defeated Papayoanou (6-3, 6-2) at No. 1 singles.
 
• Hoy downed Rudnicki (6-1, 6-4) at No. 4 singles.
 
• Shea defeated Gignac (6-0, 6-0) at No. 5 singles.
 
• RIC freshman 
Jack Cadden (Mattapoisett, Mass.) completed the sweep with a win (6-1, 6-3) vs. Couture at No. 6 singles.
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, No. 1-seeded Rhode Island College will host No. 4-seeded Castleton in the semifinals of the 2020-21 Little East Tournament on Wednesday, May 5 (3:30 p.m.).
