Plymouth, N.H.--Senior Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) became the program's all-time leader in career doubles wins as Rhode Island College defeated Plymouth State, 7-2, to win the Little East Regular Season Championship on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC has won six consecutive Little East Regular Season Championships, bringing the program's total to 12 all-time.
 
• Zangari raised her all-time doubles mark to 52-3, surpassing Julie Reddy's, Meg Funk's and Donna Vongratsavay's prior mark of 51 career victories.
 
• RIC freshman Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) and senior Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.)  opened play with an 8-0 win vs. PSU junior Julie Miller (Woburn, Mass.) and freshman Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Sophomore Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) and senior Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) then secured an 8-3 win vs. senior Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) at No. 1 doubles.
 
• Zangari paired with senior Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, R.I.) to earn an 8-2 victory vs. seniors Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles to claim the program's all-time lead in doubles wins.
 
• Bobola earned a straight set (6-1, 6-1) win over PSU sophomore Alyssa Bettencourt (West Brookfield, Mass.) at No. 6 singles.
 
• Lisi clinched the match with a win (6-2, 6-0) over McCarthy at No. 1 singles
 
• Winter downed Zangari (7-6, 5-7, 1-0) at No. 2 singles for the Panthers' first point of the day.
 
• Macera downed Sundquist (6-0, 6-1) at No. 4 singles.
 
• Raskob defeated Venincasa (6-4, 6-1) at No. 3 singles.
 
• Miller picked up the host's final point with a win (6-4, 1-0) over Vittori at No. 5 singles

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Southern Maine on Saturday, May 1 (1 p.m.).
