Providence, R.I.—Sophomore Christopher McCarthy (Belford, N.J.) came from behind to secure a 4-2 win at 184 lbs. as the Rhode Island College wrestling team fell, 27-18, vs. Western New England at the Recreation Center on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Golden Bears jumped out to an 18-0 advantage with four straight wins, highlighted by a senior Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) technical fall and a pin from junior Sean Monteiro (Wilbraham, Mass.).
 
• The Anchormen won two of the next three bouts as junior Eric Zane (Quaker Hill, Conn.) scored 10 first period points en route to an 11-9 victory at 165 lbs.
 
• After falling behind 2-0, McCarthy rattled off a pair of escapes and then a third period takedown to earn a win at 184 lbs.
 
• WNE sophomore Darby McLaughlin (Springfield, Mass.) sealed the win for the visitors with a pin at 197 lbs.
 
• RIC got forfeit wins from sophomore Edison Guarcas (Providence, R.I.) and freshman Fred Luchs (Belford, N.J.) at 285 and 125 lbs. to end the match.
