Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2021 Little East Women's Tennis Championship as No. 1-seeded Rhode Island College defeated No. 2-seeded Bridgewater State, 5-1, in the finals at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen took two of three in doubles action to build a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. Bobola and freshman
Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) paired up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.

Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) and senior
Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.) earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
• Junior
Sarah Gonick (Kingston, Mass.) won (6-3, 6-0) at No. 6 singles and Lisi also won in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles.
• The Anchorwomen were close to picking up the fifth and deciding point in three on-going matches, but Bobola closed out her opponent first (6-1, 6-1) to win the contest.
BY THE NUMBERS
• By virtue of the win, Rhode Island College has earned the LEC's automatic qualifier to the 2022 NCAA Div. III Women's Tennis Championship. It is the fifth straight year RIC has secured its trip to the NCAAs.
• Bobola had the deciding victory in both the Anchorwomen's, 5-0, victory over No. 4-seeded UMass Boston on Oct. 21 and again in the title contest this afternoon. She went 2-0 at both No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles during the tournament.
• The Anchorwomen claimed the program's fifth consecutive and 11
th overall Little East Championship title. RIC has won seven straight and 13 overall LEC Regular Season titles.
• RIC is currently riding a 51-match unbeaten streak vs. Little East competition.
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College is off until the spring 2022 semester.
