Women's Tennis Advances to Little East Championship Final

Providence, R.I.—Senior Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) clinched a 5-0 win with a straight set victory at No. 5 singles as No. 1-seeded Rhode Island College defeated No. 4-seeded UMass Boston in the semifinals of the 2021 Little East Women's Tennis Championship at the RIC Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshmen Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) and Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) started a 3-0 sweep of doubles with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Bobola and freshman Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) paired up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
 
• Junior Sarah Gonick (Kingston, Mass.) made short work of her opponent (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6 singles and Bobola sealed the win with a victory (6-0, 6-2) at No. 5 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host No. 2-seeded Bridgewater State in the LEC Championship Finals on Saturday, Oct. 23 (noon).
