Women's Basketball Rolls Past Plymouth State, 89-39

Providence, R.I.—Senior guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) was one of five Anchorwomen who scored in double figures as Rhode Island College downed Plymouth State, 89-39, in Little East Conference women's basketball action played at The Murray Center today.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Gauvin finished with 12 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals. Freshman guard Antonia Corsinetti (Johnston, RI) posted 12 points, four boards and three assists. 

• Freshman forward Isabelle Booth (Newport, RI) had 11 points and eight rebounds in just 14 minutes off the bench. Sophomore center Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) pitched in with 11 points, while classmate guard Maire Gallagher (Worcester, MA) contributed 10 points.

• PSU junior guard Elizabeth McLaughlin (Melvin Village, NH) led the Panthers with a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double effort. 

• The visitors held their only lead, 4-3, of the day when freshman guard Autumn Nelson (Weare, NH) cashed in a layup with 8:02 left in the first quarter. RIC junior guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, MA) sank a three on the ensuing possession as the hosts erupted for a 21-2 run to close out the frame to go up by 19, 25-6.

• RIC outscored PSU, 21-6, in the second quarter to lead by 34, 46-12, at halftime. 

• The Anchorwomen led by 39, 66-27, at the end of three and outscored the Panthers, 23-12, in the fourth quarter to pick up their eighth LEC win of the season. 

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 47 percent (32-for-68) from the field, 41 percent (9-for-22) from three-point range and 55 percent (16-for-29) from the free throw line.

• PSU shot 24 percent (13-for-55) from the field, 10 percent (1-for-10) from downtown and 60 percent (12-for-20) from the charity stripe.

• RIC outrebounded PSU, 61-37. The Anchorwomen committed just 10 turnovers, while the Panthers gave the ball away 23 times.

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Jan. 29 (5:30 p.m.).
