Box Score Providence, R.I.--Junior guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, MA) led the way for the Anchorwomen with 13 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team fell to UMass Boston, 45-44, in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen got out to an early, 8-5, lead before the first media timeout of the opening quarter. A layup from UMB junior guard Jalani Jackson (Brockton, MA) gave the Beacons the lead with 2:10 remaining in the stanza and they took a 11-10 lead after the first frame.
• RIC gained the lead, 20-18, after a layup by senior guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) with 6:03 remaining in the second period.
• A three-pointer by sophomore guard Maire Gallagher (Worcester, MA) gave the Anchorwomen a five-point, 23-18, lead before the media timeout of the second quarter.
• The held a seven-point, 28-21, lead at halftime. Senior forward Fataya Larry (Brooklyn, NY) led the team with eight points and grabbed nine boards in the first half.
• The Beacons started the third quarter on an 11-2 run and regained the lead 2:38 into the period. UMB outscored RIC, 20-4, during the third quarter and held a nine-point, 41-32, lead going into the final frame.
• The Anchorwomen held the Beacons to just four points during the fourth quarter, but a UMB junior center Sarah St. Surin (Norwalk, CT) hit a jumper with 2:41 left gave the visitors all they would need for the win.
• RIC had the ball with seven seconds left, but freshman guard Antonia Corsinetti's (Johnston, RI) potential game-winning shot was off the mark.
• Sophomore center Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) had six points, 12 boards and five rejections. Larry finished with eight points and 14 rebounds. Gauvin chipped with in eight points, four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
• UMB junior guard Tahjai Mazyck (Hamden, CT) scored a game-high 17 points to go with two rebounds and two steals.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 29 percent (18-for-62) from the field, 21 percent (5-for-24) from three-point range and 38 percent (3-for-8) from the foul line.
• UMB shot 30 percent (18-for-60) from the field, 27 percent (4-for-15) from three-point territory and 71 percent (5-for-7) from the foul line.
• RIC controlled the glass, 56-31, and dished out 11 assists on the day.
