McBorrough and Livramento Pick Up Double-Doubles in, 58-51, Win Over Panthers

Providence, R.I.—Freshman forward Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) and junior forward Ornela Livramento (Pawtucket, RI) each had double-doubles as Rhode Island College defeated Plymouth State, 58-51, in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• McBorrough connected on 6-of-8 from the field for 14 points and 14 rebounds. She also had three blocks. Livramento knocked down 5-of-9 for 10 points to go along with 12 boards and a pair of assists.

• Sophomore guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, MA) narrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds. She also dished out four assists. Junior guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) equaled Guerrier's assist total, while also contributing seven points. 

• Plymouth State senior forward Jess Conant (Canton, ME) led all scorers with 22 points. Senior guard Cassidy Emerson (Concord, NH) finished with six points and six rebounds, while classmate guard Brittany Roche (Londonderry, NY) registered five points, six boards and a game-high five steals.

• The Anchorwomen went on an absolute tear in the first quarter, hammering the Panthers, 23-8. RIC built a 20-4 lead over the first nine minutes of the game, led by six points from sophomore guard Brooke Young (West Warwick, RI) and five points by Gauvin. 

• RIC went up by 20, 34-14, with 2:06 left in the second quarter and took a 36-18 lead into the locker room at halftime. PSU missed all seven of its three-point attempts in the first half.

• The game looked to be over after three quarters of play with the hosts holding a 47-27 advantage. The Anchorwomen held a game-high 23 point, 43-20, lead with just under three minutes left in the third stanza 

• The fourth quarter belonged to the Panthers, who outscored RIC, 24-11, but RIC held on for the win. Conant got hot in the fourth quarter with nine points.

BY THE NUMBERS
• The Anchorwomen shot 37 percent (23-for-63) from the field, 24 percent (4-for-17) from three-point range and 40 percent (8-for-20) from the free throw line.

• The Panthers shot 35 percent (22-for-63) from the field, 12 percent (2-for-17) from downtown and 46 percent (5-for-11) from the charity stripe.

• Rhode Island College dominated the glass, 55-34.

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Southern Maine on Saturday, Jan. 26 (1 p.m.).
