Box Score Providence, R.I.–Rhode Island College senior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI) became just the fifth player in RIC volleyball history to record 1,000 career kills as she posted 15 kills and added 13 digs to lead the Anchorwomen to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) victory over Southern Maine in a Little East Conference contest played at the Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ward picked up her 1,000th career kill early in the first set of the match. She also added a pair of service aces in the win.
• RIC freshman outside hitter Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, MA) notched 13 kills, seven digs and a pair of blocks.
• Senior libero Marisa Brynes (Cranston, RI) recorded a team-best 15 digs in the victory.
• Junior setter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) narrowly missed a double-double with 39 assists, nine digs and two service aces for the Anchorwomen.
• Southern Maine was led by sophomore outside hitter Kacey Forester (Scarborough, ME) with seven kills, while junior outside hitter Megan Gettings (Bristol, CT) posted six kills and four digs for the Huskies.
• Senior setter Nicole Schmitz (St. Paul, MN) notched 19 assists, four digs and two kills in the setback.
• Southern Maine sophomore libero Lauren Delissio (Hebron, CT) notched 15 digs and added two service aces in the contest.
BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC registered a .221 (42-15-122) hitting percentage in the victory, while Southern Maine hit .101 (32-20-119).
• RIC picked up 55 digs and registered seven blocks and six service ace. Southern Maine tallied 57 digs to go along with four blocks and three service aces.
