1973 Men's Soccer Team

Year Inducted: 2018

The 1973 Men's Soccer Team is the fourth team to be enshrined in RIC Athletic's Team Hall of Fame. They will join the 1968-69 men’s basketball, 1979 baseball and 1990-91 wrestling squads in the HOF.

Head Coach Ed Bogda’s team went 13-3-0, recording the best record in program history, en route to a berth in the NAIA District 32 Playoffs.

RIC opened the season with a 7-0 record, which included a 4-1 victory over Providence College. After suffering their first loss, the Anchormen reeled off wins in six of their next seven games to close out the regular season and secure a berth in the NAIA District 32 playoffs where RIC lost a heart-breaking 1-0 game in overtime at Southeastern Massachusetts University to end the season.

The roster at that time was full of talent and are some of RIC’s brightest alumni.

Former goalkeeper and team captain Jim White '74 went on to tremendous business success and was named a RIC Alumnus of the Year.

Woonsocket native and former forward Phil Pincince '79 went on to a long career as a soccer coach at Brown University.

Forwards Orlando Andrade '76 and Athletic Hall of Famer Domenico Petrarca '77 are still some of the top scorers in program history.
