Christopher V. O’Connors ’08 was an outstanding outfielder on the Rhode Island College baseball team from 2006-08. He closed out his career having played in 114 games, starting 113 of them. O’Connors batted .408 with 414 at-bats, 112 runs scored, 169 hits, 43 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 101 RBI, 246 total bases, 69 walks, was hit by 14 pitches and logged eight steals.

At the conclusion of his career, the North Kingstown, R.I. native ranked first all-time at RIC in career batting, second in doubles and walks, third in hits, fourth in total bases, fifth in runs scored and RBI and seventh in career slugging percentage (.594). He also ranked in the top five in numerous single season categories.

As a senior in 2008, he was named Third Team All-New England, First Team All-Little East and the squad’s MVP. As a junior in 2007, O’Connors was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. As a sophomore in 2006, he named a First Team NEIBA All-Star. O’Connors was the Little East Conference Baseball Rookie of the Year, was also named First Team All-LEC and established a new RIC single-season record for hits by connecting on his 65th knock on the year.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rhode Island College in 2008. O'Connors is a detective with the Rhode Island State Police.
