SHAYNA COUSINEAU WINS LITTLE EAST INDIVIDUAL WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TITLE

Keene, N.H.--Freshman Shayna Cousineau (Cranston, RI) captured the 2017 Little East Conference Individual Championship with a first place finish (19:19.7) to lead the Rhode Island College women's cross country team to a third place finish (seven teams) at the 2017 Little East Conference Championship, hosted by Keene State on Saturday.

 

Cousineau earned All-Little East honors by virtue of her top-10 finish, while junior Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) and junior Rebecca Meinertz (Smithfield, RI) also took home All-Conference awards.

 

THE BASICS

• The Anchorwomen finished with 87 points, while Eastern Connecticut took home the team title with 50 points on the afternoon.

• There were a total of seven teams and 72 runners competing at the event.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• McCaffrey earned All-LEC honors after placing seventh (20:04.5) for the Anchorwomen.

• Meinertz took home All-LEC accolades with an eighth place finish (20:07.2).

• Senior Rebecca Tellier (Smithfield, RI) finished in 35th (21:55.2) place, while freshman Bryana Mullin (Warwick, RI) notched a 36th place finish (21:55.6).

• Junior Laura Paiva (Coventry, RI) registered a 38th place finish (22:29.1), while sophomore Analise England (Smithfield, RI) clocked a time of (23:09.4), which was good for a 40th place finish.

• Sophomore Wennely Figueroa (Providence, RI) was in 62nd place (24:05.00) and classmate Nicaury Nunez (Providence, RI) rounded out the runners for the Anchorwomen, finishing in 64th place (24:49.0).
