Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College senior outside hitter Jillian Ward (Coventry, RI), junior setter Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI) and senior libero Marisa Brynes (Cranston, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances in women’s volleyball this season.
Ward was named First Team All-Little East. She played in 86 sets in 25 matches. She hit .172 (301-147-896) to go along with 301 kills (3.5/set), 20 assists (.23/set), 32 service aces (.37/set), 279 digs (3.24/set) and 25 blocks (.29/set). Ward led the squad in kills, while ranking second in both aces and digs. She totaled 1,088 career kills and 1,101 career digs. She is third all-time in kills in RIC program history.
Jutras was named Second Team All-Little East. She played in 97 sets in 27 matches. Jutras hit .070 (30-21-129) to go along with 30 kills (.31/set), 819 assists (8.44/set), 52 aces (.54/set) and 179 digs (1.85/set). Jutras led the Anchorwomen in both assists and aces, while ranking fourth in digs.
Brynes was named Second Team All-Little East. She played in 99 sets in 27 matches. She compiled 31 assists (.31/set), 26 aces (.26/set) and 475 digs (4.80/set) on the season. Brynes led the team in digs
Head Coach Sherri Heard’s team finished the 2018 season with a 15-12 overall record and a 5-3 (third place tie) in the Little East. The fifth-seeded Anchorwomen downed fourth-seeded Western Connecticut, 3-2, in first round action of the Little East Championship on Oct. 30 before falling to top-seeded Eastern Connecticut, 3-0, in the semifinals on Nov. 2.
