Providence, R.I.—Five members of the Rhode Island College women’s indoor track & field team were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances at the RIC Invitational, held at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Junior Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Yusuff finished first in the weight throw (16.33m) and sixth in the shot (10.68m).
Freshman Trinity Hayes (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Women’s Rookie Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. She recorded a second place finish in the 400m (1:00.73) and took fifth place in the 60m (8.32). She had the lead leg of the first place 4x200m relay (1:45.74) and ran the third leg of the first place 4x400m relay (4:20.16).
Hayes, senior Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI), senior Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) and junior Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) were named the Little East Women’s Track Relay Team of the Week for their performance in the 4x200m. The quartet finished first with a time of 1:45.74.
In upcoming action, Head Coach Timothy Rudd’s Anchorwomen will compete at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 12.
