Record Setting 4x200m Relay Team Leads Women’s Track & Field To Sixth Place Finish at N.E. Div. III Championship

Brunswick, Maine–Seven individuals earned All-New England honors and the 4x200m relay team won the New England Championship as the Rhode Island College women's track & field team competed at the 2019 N.E. Div. III Championship, hosted by Bowdoin on Friday and Saturday.

THE BASICS
• RIC notched a tie for sixth place (31 teams) with a 48.0 team score. Williams took home first place with a team score of 140.0.

SENIOR DAY
• It was the final regular season indoor meet for RIC seniors Eleni and Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI)Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) and Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI) earned All-New England honors with a fifth place finish in the 60m (7.94). She also was an All-New England honoree with a second place finish in the 200m (26.24) and as part of the first place 4x200m relay squad (1:43.04).

• Freshman Trinity Hayes (Providence, RI) was tabbed an All-New England performer after a fourth place finish in the 400m (58.98) and as part of the first place 4x200m relay squad (1:43.04).

•Senior Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI) was an All-New England selection with a sixth place finish in the 400m (59.20) and as part of the first place 4x200m relay squad (1:43.04).

• Junior Emma Landroche (Warwick, RI) was an All-New England performer with a sixth place finish in the long jump (5.30m) and as part of the first place 4x200m relay squad (1:43.04). She also had a 15th place finish in the 200m (26.75).

• Junior Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI) placed ninth in the 200m (26.27).

• The Anchorwomen's 4x200m relay team of Hayes, the Grammas' and Landroche once again broke their own school record as they won the New England Championship in a time of 1:43.04 on Friday evening.

• Senior Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) notched a 12th place finish in the 800m (2:21.93).

• Junior Chevell Burgess (Providence, RI) placed 19th in the triple jump (10.32m).

• Sophomore Chelsea Yang (Warwick, RI) tied her own school record and notched a second place finish to earn All-New England honors in the weight throw (18.51m).

• Senior Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI) was an All-New England performer after a third place finish in the weight throw (15.89m). Yusuff also had a 20th place finish in the shot (10.17m).

• Sophomore Melissa Mejia (Providence, RI) was also an All-New England performer with an eighth place finish in the weight throw (14.85m).

• Freshman Georgerinna Farley (Providence, RI) was ninth in the weight throw (14.64m) while junior Jamie Dobson (Bradford, RI) was 23rd in the same event (12.80m).
