The Rhode Island College women's tennis team notched a 9-0 win over intra-state rival Salve Regina in a non-conference contest played at the Antone Center Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Anchorwomen (2-0) took all three doubles matches for the second straight contest to stake themselves to a 3-0 lead. The No. 1 doubles team of senior Dayna Reilly (Swansea, MA)and freshman Emily Orticerio (Smithfield, RI) secured an 8-2 win over Salve Regina (0-1) freshmen Laura Krick (Groton, CT) and Erin Stangel (Old Saybrook, CT).
The second doubles spot saw RIC junior Katherine Braganca (Pawtucket, RI) and senior Isabella Romeo (Greenville, RI) post an 8-4 victory against junior Abigail Burke (Harwich, MA) and junior Anna Godshalk (Orleans, MA).
RIC freshmen Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, MA) and Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI) wrapped up the doubles victories for the Anchorwomen with an impressive 8-0 win at the No. 3 spot over junior Darcy Carlin (Brewster, NY) and freshman Claire Wulfman (Ripton, VT).
Reilly notched a (6-1, 6-0) win over Krick at No. 1 singles. Zangari added a (6-4, 6-1) victory over Stangel at No. 2 singles, while Braganca recorded a (6-4, 6-2) win at No. 3 singles against Burke.
Senior Laura Nastasi (Smithville, NJ) defeated Godshalk (6-2, 6-1) at the No. 4 singles spot and freshman Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) secured a (6-3, 6-0) at No. 5 singles over Carlin. RIC freshman Laurel Ten Eyck (Warwick, RI) posted a (6-1, 6-0) win over freshman Annemarie Haas (Whitinsville, MA) at No. 6 singles to round out the shutout for the visitors.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Suffolk on Wednesday, Sept. 5 (4 p.m.)
