Women's Swimming Drops, 108-54, Match at Clark

Worcester, Mass.—Freshman Mary McBride (Rumford, RI) won the 500-yard freestyle (7:22.69) as the Rhode Island College fell at Clark, 108-54, on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• McBride placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (7:22.69), second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:37.98) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:40.84). She also swam the third leg of the first place 200-yard freestlye relay (2:12.08).

• Senior Madison Lane (Barrington, RI) registered a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:52.81). She also swam the lead leg of the first place 200-yard freestlye relay (2:12.08).

• Sophomore Emily Butterfield (Cranston, RI) finished second both the 100-yard freestyle (1:11.90) and the 50-yard freestyle (36.13). Butterfield posted a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.68). She also swam the second leg of the first place 200-yard freestlye relay (2:12.08). 

• Freshman Athena Sampalis (West Greenwich, RI) was second in the 200-yard IM (2:57.60), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.11) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.41). She also swam the anchor leg of the first place 200-yard freestlye relay (2:12.08).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Western Connecticut on Thursday, Jan. 17 (7 p.m.) at Bryant University.
