Zanni Helps Anchormen Down Trinity at Bridgewater State Tri-Meet

Bridgewater, Mass.—Junior Jordan Zanni (North Providence, RI) won his match at 285 lbs. to clinch a come from behind victory as the Rhode Island College wrestling team defeated Trinity, 24-22, as part of a tri-match held at Bridgewater State on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Rhode Island College 24, Trinity 22
The Anchormen built a 15-0 lead on the Bantams with a forfeit and three decisions over the first four bouts, which were capped by a 5-1 victory at 149 lbs. by junior Sam Lindblom (Waterford, CT).

Trinity then stormed back to lead, 22-15, with a pair of technical fall victories and two pins. Freshman Travis Manick (Methuen, MA) brought RIC within a point, 22-21, with an injury default victory at 197 lbs. and Zanni won his bout at 285 lbs. to cap the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Bridgewater State 22, Rhode Island College 19
The Anchormen built an early lead, 10-6, with three victories in the first four matches. The Bears stormed back with a technical fall win and a pin to go up by five, 17-9, with four bouts to go.

Rhode Island College won the next three matches, highlighted by senior Tim Caplan’s (Portland, CT) major decision at 184 lbs., to go up by a pair of points, 19-17, heading into the final contest. The Bears then picked up a major decision to pull out the win.
