WRESTLING ENDS SEASON AFTER DAY ONE AT NCAA DIV. III NORTHEAST REGIONAL

Worcester, Mass.--The Rhode Island College wrestling team competed at the 2018 NCAA Div. III Northeast Championship, hosted by WPI on Saturday afternoon. None of the Anchormen's entries have qualified for the second day of competition and RIC concludes the 2017-18 season.

 

THE BASICS

• The Anchormen finished the tourney in 17th place (17 teams) with 3.0 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Freshman Nicholas Coppola (Wantagh, NY) registered a 1-2 record on the day at 184 lbs., which included a pin over Norwich's Ronnie Caudill in a time of 3:49.

• Junior Daniel Murray (Bay Shore, NY) went 0-2 at 125 lbs., while sophomore Francisco Roman (Parlin, NJ) went 0-2 at 133 lbs.

• Freshman David Sheldon III (Riverside, RI) posted an 0-2 record at 141 lbs., while freshman James Smith (Belle Meade, NJ) was 0-2 at 157 lbs.

• Freshman Nicholas Gould (North Attleboro, MA) had an 0-2 mark at 165 lbs., with junior Tim Caplan (Portland, CT) posting an 0-2 record at 174 lbs.

• RIC freshman Ricky Brown (North Kingstown, RI) was 0-2 at 285 lbs.
