RIC FINISHES 17TH AT DOUG PARKER INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.--Freshman Nick Coppola (Wantagh, NY), freshman Brandon Nunez (Rockaway, NY) and junior Zach Ford (Flagler Beach, FL) each picked up two wins on the day as the Rhode Island College wrestling team notched a 17th place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

 

THE BASICS

• RIC finished in 17th place (18 teams) with 16.0 points, while Wesleyan took home first place with 125.0 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Coppola went 2-2 on the day at 174 lbs., while Ford also posted a 2-2 mark at 174 lbs. for RIC.

• Nunez was 2-2 for the tournament at 285 lbs. for the Anchormen.

• Freshman Nick Gould (North Attleboro, MA) was 1-2 at 165 lbs. for the tournament.

• Sophomore Francisco Roman (Parlin, NJ) posted a 1-2 mark at 133 lbs. with a pin.

• Freshman Jared Rufo (Moosup, CT) also had a pin for the Anchormen at 184 lbs. en route to a 1-2 mark for the tournament.

• Sophomore Jordan Zanni (North Providence, RI) recorded a 1-2 record at 285 lbs., while freshman A.J. Grabbert (Foster, RI) was 1-2 at 157 lbs. for the Anchormen.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Western New England for a dual match on Friday, Dec. 1 (7 pm).
