Willcia McBorrough Named Little East Rookie of the Week

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College freshman forward Willcia McBorrough (Providence, RI) was named the Little East Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 2-0 week for the Anchorwomen. It is the fourth time this season that McBorrough has received this honor 

McBorrough helped the Anchorwomen close out the regular season with a pair of wins. She averaged 10.0 ppg, 12.5 rpg and 2.0 bpg. McBorrough had 10 points, 13 rebounds, one assist two blocks and a steal in a 68-59 win over Western Connecticut on Feb. 13. She had 10 points, 12 boards and two blocks in a 63-52 win over UMass Boston on Feb. 16.

For the season, she has played in 25 games, starting all of them. She is averaging 8.4 ppg and 7.4 rpg.

Head Coach Jenna Cosgrove’s team finished the regular season with a 17-8 overall record and a 9-7 (fifth place) mark in the Little East.

In upcoming action, No. 5-seeded RIC will travel to No. 4-seeded UMass Boston for opening round action of the 2019 Little East Women’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday, Feb. 19 (5:30 p.m.).
