Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman second baseman Marissa Cushman (Cranston, RI) was named the Little East Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in a 3-1 week for the Anchorwomen.
She played in four games, starting all of them. Cushman batted .417 (5-for-12) with four runs scored, one double, two homers, five RBI and a stolen base. She owned a 1.000 slugging percentage, a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
She went 3-for-7 with three runs scored, three RBI and a pair of homers in a doubleheader sweep of Worcester State on April 11. Cushman went 2-for-5 with a run scored, a double and an RBI in a doubleheader split with Southern Maine on April 13.
For the season, she has played in 24 games, starting 22 of them. Cushman is batting .433 (29-for-67) with 28 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, six homers, 31 RBI and seven stolen bases. She owns a .851 slugging percentage, a .513 on-base percentage and a .971 fielding percentage.
RIC is currently 15-9 overall and 2-4 in the Little East.
In upcoming action, Head Coach Brian Claypool’s team will continue Little East action at Western Connecticut on Tuesday, April 16 (5 p.m.).
