MEN'S TRACK & FIELD OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON  AT BRYANT UNIVERSITY INVITATIONAL

Smithfield, R.I.—The Rhode Island College men's track & field team opened the 2018 outdoor portion of their schedule at Bryant University's Black & Gold Invitational on Saturday afternoon. RIC finished 11th (13 teams) with a score of 8.0. The University of Rhode Island won the meet with a score of 272.0.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Senior Matt Charles (North Providence, RI) finished eighth in the 100m (11.29), 11th in the 200m (23.05) and fifth as part of the 4x100m relay (43.97).

• Senior Vincent Santos (Narragansett, RI) finished ninth in the 110m hurdles (15.43), 13th in the 400m hurdles (1:00.36) and fifth as part of the 4x100m relay (43.97).

• Senior Shamar Spruill (Providence, RI) finished seventh in the hammer (49.08m) and ninth in the discus (41.25m).

• Senior Jake Brierly (Lincoln, RI) finished 10th in the hammer (45.45m), while sophomore Joe Palazzo (Providence, RI) finished 11th in the same event (42.99m).

• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the AIC Invitational on Saturday, April 7 (10 a.m.).
