Providence, R.I.—Eighteen Rhode Island College student-athletes were named to the 2018 Little East Conference Fall All-Academic team as announced by the league office today.
Student-athletes earned recognition on the all-academic teams based on the following criteria: at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.3. The conference office honored student-athletes in the following sports: men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball.
The following student-athletes were recognized:
Women’s Cross Country: Senior Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) and senior Rebecca Meinertz (Smithfield, RI).
Men’s Soccer: Senior Kyle Ferreira (Westerly, RI), junior Mike Faria (West Warwick, RI) sophomore James Petrella (Willington, CT) and sophomore Charlie Tashjian (West Warwick, RI).
Women’s Soccer: Sophomore Vanessa Costa (Rocky Point, NY), junior Erica Edwards (North Kingstown, RI), sophomore Carissa Gaglione (West Warwick, RI), sophomore Brooke Young (West Warwick, RI) and sophomore Kyleigh Zelano (Warwick, RI).
Women’s Tennis: Sophomore Serena Bobola (Cranston, RI), sophomore Hailey Raskob (North Smithfield, RI) and sophomore Grace Zangari (Saunderstown, RI).
Women’s Volleyball: Sophomore Samantha Borges (Swansea, MA), sophomore Jacqueline Jutras (Foster, RI), sophomore Emilia Vaziri (Cranston, RI).
