Monica Mesalles Nassi Named Coach of the Year as Women's Gymnastics Breaks Three Program Records at East Regional Championship

Cortland, N.Y.—Rhode Island College Head Coach Monica Mesalles Nassi was named the East Region Coach of the Year as the women's gymnastics team finished sixth (six teams) at the 2019 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Regional Championship hosted by Cortland on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen posted the program's highest-ever team score with a 185.525 point total.

• Rhode Island College also established new program records with a 47.350 total score on vault and a 46.850 point total on beam.

• Senior Allie DiBiase (North Kingstown, RI) earned All-East Region honors with a third place finish in the all-around with a 37.325 point total. She tied for 14th on vault (9.575), tied for 17th on bars (9.000), tied for 22nd on beam (9.350) and was 30th on floor (9.400).

• Senior Miranda Murphy (Lansdale, PA) earned All-East Region honors in the all-around with a fourth place finish and a 37.225 score. She tied for 31st on vault (9.350), tied for 21st on bars (8.900), was 18th on beam (9.425) and tied for 22nd on floor (9.550).

• Sophomore Christa Vaccaro (Winthrop, MA) finished 24th on vault (9.500), tied for 23rd on bars (8.825) and was 32nd on floor (9.275).

• Junior Kyndel Yett (Carrollton, GA) placed 25th on vault (9.475), tied for 32nd on bars (8.500) and was 31st on floor (9.350).

• Sophomore Ali Peterman (Seneca Falls, NY) tied for 15th on beam (9.475). Sophomore Kaela Skerl (Albuquerque, NM) tied for 23rd on bars (8.825).
