Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College junior pitcher Mike Webb (Pawtucket, RI) and classmate second baseman Nate Vigeant (Coventry, RI) were named Second Team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) for their respective performances during the spring 2019 season.
Webb has already been named a Fourth Team All-American and Second Team All-New England by D3Baseball.com. He was also named First Team All-Little East. He appeared in 11 games, starting all of them. The team MVP posted a 6-0 record with a 2.72 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 76.1 innings pitched. On the year, he recorded a 5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and held opponents to just a .195 batting average.
Vigeant was named Second Team All-New England by D3Baseball.com and Second Team All-Little East. He played in 42 games, starting all of them. Vigeant batted .374 (64-for-171) with 47 runs scored, 64 hits, 13 doubles, one triple and two home runs. He registered a .447 on-base percentage, a .497 slugging percentage and a .969 fielding percentage. At the conclusion of RIC's season, he ranked second in the Little East in hits, runs scored and plate appearances (200).
First-year Head Coach Frank Holbrook's team finished the 2018 season with a 26-16 overall record and a 9-7 (third place) finish in the Little East. The Anchormen tied the program record for wins in a season.
