HOW IT HAPPENED
• Despite a blizzard that swept across New England last weekend, the Anchormen were still able to kick off their season in Connecticut against the Blue Jays.
Â
• The first run of the season for the visitors came from senior catcher
Sean Gallagher (Warwick, R.I.) after he scored at the plate off of a distraction steal to second in the top half of the first.
Â
• The BlueJays picked up where they left off yesterday and posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the first after a passed ball got their scoring started.
Â
• A double in the second from the hosts brought in another run to make it, 3-1.
Â
• The Blue Jays tacked on to their lead with a four-run fourth frame, as three doubles accounted for three of the runs.
Â
• Freshman third baseman
Finn Boyle (Washington, D.C.) went 1-for-4 and notched his first RBI as he doubled in the sixth, which started a two-run inning by the Anchormen.
Â
• However, USJ combined for five runs in the bottom half of both the fifth and sixth innings to cap off their second straight win in as many days.
Â
• Gallagher went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
