Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College honored Coordinator of Student-Athlete Support
Tony Rainone '73 as part of
Tony Rainone Day during RIC's men's and women's basketball games vs. Plymouth State on Saturday afternoon at The Murray Center.
Rainone, who has given over 25 years of service to the department of athletics, is stepping down from his current position at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Prior to the men's basketball contest vs. the Panthers, Rhode Island College President
Dr. Jack Warner presented Rainone with a custom designed baseball jersey. Rainone, who is also a member of RIC's Athletic Hall of Fame, was an outstanding catcher during his undergraduate days.
Rhode Island College also announced that beginning this spring, the baseball team's annual MVP award will be named in his honor.

Chris Paplauskas was also on-hand to deliver a special proclamation from Cranston Mayor and former RIC Head Baseball and Women's Basketball Coach
Ken Hopkins '78.
Numerous members of Rainone's family, as well as former colleagues and student-athletes were on hand to celebrate the day with him.
