Beacons End Anchormen's Season

Boston, Mass.--Sophomore midfielder Nathan Capelo (Rumford, R.I.) scored the Anchormen's only goal as No. 6 Rhode Island College fell at No. 2 UMass Boston, 4-1, in the semifinals of the 2025 Little East Men's Soccer Championship played at BC High on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The hosts were the aggressors from the jump as they scored three goals within the first 30 minutes of action.
 
• RIC was able to get five shots off against the UMB defense, however, no scoring came from the attacks, which put the visitors in a large hole heading into the second half.
 
• The Beacons scored first in the second period, which came in the 54th minute.
 
• Capelo scored in the 63rd minute on a volley attempt to break up the Beacons' shutout bid..
 
• RIC found more scoring chances through corner kicks and on free kicks from fouls, but could not close the gap.

• Junior goalkeeper Elhadji Ndoye (Cranston, R.I.) made four saves in the loss (2-5-3).
