WestConn Hands Anchorwomen Second Straight LEC Setback

Danbury, Conn.--Freshman goalkeeper Oceanna Orlandi (East Greenwich, R.I.) made five saves as Rhode Island College fell at Western Connecticut, 2-0, in Little East Conference action played at the Westside Athletic Complex on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman forward Sarah Pimentel (Cranston, R.I.) saw the game's first chance as she had her shot blocked by a defender within the opening minute of action.
 
• The hosts took control of the rest of the first half as the Wolves ripped off 11 shots during the opening 45 minutes and came away with a late goal in the 45th minute off a corner kick.
 
• Not much changed for RIC in the second half as they were held without a shot for the rest of the contest.
 
• WestConn was able to net an insurance marker in the 78th minute, which gave the visitors their second consecutive conference defeat.

• Senior forward Tayshia Cary (Wakefield, R.I.) had two separate chances for the Anchorwomen with shots on net.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Oct. 22 (4 p.m.).
